Christmas Village

Every year, there is a Christmas village event put on in our community center. Everyone lines up along the back of the building and enters in the basement. They have face painting, crafts, and games for the kids. Then, you go upstairs about 15-20 people at a time into the "village" where the real fun is...ornament making, sleigh rides, cookies and lemonade, and Santa's house. Santa gives each kid a toy and a letter telling them to listen to their parents and be good. The decorations are beautiful and the best part...it's all free!

This is Karina on the sleigh---Aidan wanted nothing to do with it.

The sleigh again.

Aidan "giving 5" to Frosty.

I don't know if you can tell from her hand position, but she's doing the twist with the dancing snowman. I wish I'd made a video!

Here you go, Wolf

A new view on Little Red Riding Hood:

One day last week, Karina picked up the phone and said, "Hello, Grandma. Oh, no, you have a cold??? I will bring you some cheerios. They are for you, NOT the big bad wolf." She put the phone down, wrapped her head and shoulders in a red and blue quilt, and grabbed a little basket. She picked up the bowl of cheerios she and Aidan had been snacking on and put it in the basket and started to skip around the living room. Aidan, of course, protested the loss of his snack, so I asked Karina to please share. She lowered the basket to where Aidan could reach it, and with a heavy sigh, said: "Here you go, wolf."

First Snow!!!

This morning we woke up to snow, snow, snow! I actually didn't notice until after breakfast when a not-so-gray walkway caught my attention through my still-closed blinds. We opened the front door so we could get a good look and the expression on Aidan's face was priceless. You could see the little gears turning in his head. If he could have, he surely would have said, "What on Earth is going on?????" Karina immediately wanted to go sledding. Well, there wasn't enough snow for that, but we did build a snowman:

This was taken a bit later in the day--all warm and dry:
